"Static" Jahn—Teller-induced random strains inTmxY1−xVO4

Abstract
Electron paramagnetic resonance of TmxY1xVO4: Gd3+ shows that the fluctuating random strains in this system are due to long-range interactions between Tm3+ Jahn-Teller ions. The fluctuations sharply slow down at low temperatures and the strains may be considered "static" in the time scale (109 sec) of the experiments.
