Abstract
Selected-area diffraction techniques have been used to study relative phase orientations in Al-CuAl2 eutectic alloy specimens in which the phase distributions were not only lamellar. It has been shown that in non-lamellar regions there is a wide range of relative phase orientations. The development of preferred expitaxial orientations is discussed for this eutectic system and in general. The authors would like to thank Professor P. B. Hirsch, F.R.S., for accommodation and facilities which have assisted in the present work, and acknowledge financial support from the British Cast Iron Research Association. Keywords
