Development of Pulmonary Tuberculosis Several Years after Chemoprophylaxis 1

Abstract

Two cases of pulmonary tuberculosis in family contacts developed several years after preventive administration of isoniazid for one year; in one patient, isoniazid was used for primary prophylaxis, and in the other, for secondary prophylaxis. the need for education of patients regarding the results that can be expected from preventive treatment and for supervision even after discontinuation of treatment, especially in family contacts, is stressed.
