Abstract
PYOGENIC cutaneous infections are commonly seen in the practice of medicine. Often, these conditions are localized to the skin and are not accompanied by constitutional symptoms. One of their identifying characteristics is a yellow crust or exudate on the skin. This double-blind study was designed to select patients with such yellow, crusted exudates to determine the effects of antibiotic therapy and the local application of wet dressings upon the duration of this type of disease. Several laboratory procedures were performed in an attempt to discover a simple test to separate infected from noninfected cases.MethodEighty-nine outpatients with yellowish, crusted . . .Keywords
