Electron-impact excitation of hydrogenlike argon ions

Abstract

Cross sections for the excitation of the hydrogenic ion ${\mathrm{Ar}}^{17+}$ from the $1s$ to the $2s$ and $2p$ states are computed on the basis of a pseudostate expansion. Collision strengths for several hydrogenlike systems are compared.
