Abstract

ACUTE otitis media is a common problem in pediatric practice. Its incidence in the first decade of life is usually reported to be 10 to 20 episodes per 100 children per year,^{1 , 2} with an even higher incidence in certain high-risk populations.^{3 , 4} The epidemiology of recurrent otitis media has not been extensively studied although the tendency to recurrences is marked, especially among younger children.
