Anatomical studies of 20 cases of multiple sclerosis show demyelination of nerve fibers over long distances. Nowhere where the lesions plaque-like in appearance. Because the neuropathy occurred almost exclusively in emaciated patients, it was attributed to malnutrition and the attendant avitaminosis.
