Abstract
The electron paramagnetic resonance of Mn++ in hexagonal ZnO and CdS single crystals has been observed. The values of the crystal field parameters were obtained from the spectra and the signs of the parameters were determined from the temperature dependence of the intensities of the peaks. In addition to the expected thirty resonances for Mn++ in CdS, superhyperfine splittings of each peak were observed which result from an interaction of the Mn++ electrons with the nearest neighbor cadmium nuclei.
