Abstract
The stratigraphy of the lower part of the Waitemata Group within the lower Waikato district is illustrated by nine columnar sections, and recent advances in the biostratigraphic relations of foraminiferal assemblages within the Pareora and uppermost Landon Series of this area are described. Hitherto only Waitakian or Southland ages were assigned to these sediments and the Pareora Series appeared to be absent, but many of the earlier determinations are now known to be of Pareora age. Keywords
