Gauge Model for the Pion Mass and theρVector Boson

Abstract
We propose a gauge model which realizes the pseudo-Goldstone idea for the pion, and we calculate its mass. We find mπ2 as a function of the ρ and A1 masses and the mass and coupling constant of a new vector meson, which we tentatively identify as the recently discovered ρ vector boson. In our model, chiral symmetry is broken by the absence of the axial-vector partner of the ρ.
