THE REGULATION OF RESPIRATION

Abstract
Using a direct method for the determination of total CO2 in tissues, results have been obtained which would indicate that the buffering capacity of the brain is less than that of normal blood and that the buffering capacity of both is reduced with impaired oxidation. These data are in accord with the view that the H ion concentration of the center is an important factor in the control of respiration.
