A1AT typing was performed on haemolysates from 198 unrelated Norwegian Lapps. The allele frequencies found were AlAT1 = 0.61 and AlAT2 = 0.39. Variant phenotypes were not observed.A material of 400 unrelated non-Lappish Norwegians, which was included for comparison, showed the following frequencies: AlAT1 = 0.55 and AlAT2 = 0.45. The difference between the two materials is statistically significant.
