The Growth of Chlorella in Darkness and in Glucose Solution

Abstract

The growth in sugar soln. was retarded in darkness. The cell number and dry wt. did not increase proportionately. There were 3 or 4 phases of growth under the conditions usually employed. with the later phases being linear in relation to time. Oxygen was probably the limiting factor.
