Abstract
All-optical clock recovery at bit rates up to 20 Gbit/s has been demonstrated using an erbium-doped fibre ring laser with an all-optical active modelocking element consisting of a travelling wave semiconductor laser amplifier. The recovered clock pulses are suitable for use in ultrafast synchronisation systems. Keywords
