THE THYROID FUNCTION IN CHRONIC SCHIZOPHRENIA (HEBEPHRENIA)

Abstract
Six female patients were studied over a period of 14 months. No abnormality was detected in temperature, pulse, basal metabolic rate, protein-bound iodine, serum cholesterol, blood urea, and serum level of thyroid hormone substances. The patients'' psychoses were not affected by thyroxine, triiodothyronine, or triiodthyroacetic, although each of the preparations produced the expected biological effect.
