Abstract
The renormalized density fluctuation expansion, due to Beenakker and Mazur, is used to calculate the short-time rotational mobility tensors for a suspension of spheres. In the course of the article, several expressions used by Beenakker and Mazur are re-derived using a formalism based on angular momentum theory rather than on irreducible tensors, and expressions are also given for the friction coefficients. It is shown that the translational pair friction tensor decays as r -3 at large separations. Keywords
