Abstract
Time-sampling technique has been applied to radiative lifetime measurements. The time resolution of the apparatus was about 10 nsec. The excited molecules were produced by electron bombardment of N2 and CH4. The measured lifetimes of N2+(B2Σu+), CH(A2Δ) and CH(B2Σ−) are (6.5±0.5)×10−8 sec, (4.3±0.2)×10−7 sec and (7.6±0.4)×10−7 sec, respectively. Band oscillator strengths have been computed on the assumption that the electronic transition moment is constant in the range in which the transition takes place. Keywords
