IN SITU DETECTION AND ESTIMATION OF CHLOROPHYLL AND OTHER PIGMENTS IN THE OCEAN

Abstract

The scattering centers in ocean water and in other natural scattering-absorbing media give rise to space light which contains the absorption spectra of various components and marine organisms in the ocean. Spacelight spectroscopy was shown to be capable of detecting ocean plant pigments in concentrations down to 1.5 mgm/l.
