Abstract
A survey was made of the accumulation of Cd by 174 bacterial strains and 29 molds, isolated from polluted sites or obtained from culture collections, to obtain a strain suitable for removing dissolved Cd from industrial wastes. The best strain, a Citrobacter sp., was isolated from a site heavily polluted with Pb. It displayed the best combination of accumulation of Cd together with resistance to the metal. Organisms isolated from Cd-polluted sites had very low uptakes. This publication has 21 references indexed in Scilit:
