Abstract
Found that cerebellar damage hindered learning but not performance in some visual-learning tasks under conditions of high motivation. The location and size of the cerebellar lesions were important variables for showing this effect. Ss were male hooded rats of Royal Victoria strain. It is speculated that the intact cerebellum may act to modulate "motor arousal" and prevent overfacilitation of inappropriate responses during learning. (34 ref.)
