Abstract
The K beta 2 emission bands have been studied for Ge and the 'cation' in the isostructural series of semiconducting compounds GaAs, ZnSe, CuBr. The experimental results are found to be in agreement with available predictions of the energy band calculations. The normalized integral intensity of the x-ray emission band decreases with increasing ionicity of the bond and reflects the valence electron shift toward the 'anion'. This is accompanied by the localization of the valence electrons on the 4s level of the corresponding 'anion'.Keywords
