The relationship of carbohydrate metabolism to protein metabolism

Abstract
When mature rats ingested the protein and carbohydrate moieties of an adequate diet separately over short periods of time, fat being associated with both fractions, they showed a small loss of N and body wt.. like the human adult. Young rats showed a loss of appetite but suffered no apparent disability to metabolise protein.
