Abstract
A series of experiments on the influence of the lumbar colonic nerve on the distal part of the colon is described. The lumbar colonic nerve exerts a constant inhibitory influence on the musculature of the distal part of the colon. Section of the lumbar colonic nerve invariably leads to an immediate increase in intracolonic pressure. Section of the lumbar colonic nerve may lead to an increase in the amplitude of the contractions of the colon. This publication has 1 reference indexed in Scilit:
