Abstract
Two patients are described in whom laughter was a prominent part of focal seizures. The authors conclude that laughter may be a manifestation of epileptic discharge in the temporal region. Laughter is simply a facet of affective behavior. This would suggest that a wide gamut of emotional phenomena, both pleasant and unpleasant, may be manifestations of epileptic discharge within the temporal region. Keywords
