Neutron Pickup Reactions onSi30

Abstract
The neutron pickup reactions Si30(d,t)Si29 and Si30(He3,α)Si29 have been studied. The results indicate that the neutron configuration of Si30 contains about equal components of 1d32 and 2s12 neutrons. A small f-wave neutron component in the ground-state wave function was also found. Strong transitions with l=2, Jπ=52+ were observed to levels at 2.03, 4.89, 6.72, and 8.32 MeV. The latter is probably the isobaric analog to the ground state of Al29. The level at 4.08 MeV was not excited. The results are compared with the neutron stripping reaction Si28(d,p)Si29 and with experiments on the γ decay of the states of Si29.
