SUPPURATIVE PYLEPHLEBITIS WITH BACTEREMIA IN CHRONIC ULCERATIVE COLITIS

Abstract

A case of chronic ulcerative colitis with unusual complications of suppurative pylephlebitis, Escherichia coli bacteremia, perforation and peritonitis. The process is probably initiated in the submucosal branches of the mesenteric vein located within the infected bowel wall.
