Abstract
The epibenthic harpacticoidScottolana canadenis can be maintained over multiple generations on a diet of the flagellateIsochrysis galbana and the diatomThalassiosira pseudonana at 20 and 25°C. Adult females lived on average for 77.8 days during which the mean number of eggs produced was 406.8. The maximum number of eggs produced by a single female was 817. Both brood size and rate of egg production increase with increasing quantity of food available until a level is reached above which there is no further increase in fecundity.
