THE ASSOCIATION OF CEREBRAL ANGIOMAS WITH INTRACRANIAL ANEURYSMS

Abstract

The association of cerebral angiomas with intracranial aneurysms is of importance because the presence of both lesions produces confused symptoms and when intracranial hemorrhage is the presenting symptom the source of hemorrhage may be in doubt. Three new cases of cerebral angioma associated with intracranialaneurysms were presented and discussed in view of 13 previous case reports found in the literature. Suggested explanations included congenital vascular malformations and deficiencies, altered hemo-dynamics resulting from the presence of the angioma producing the aneurysm and coincidence.
