A Method of Isolating the Four Spores from a Single Basidium in Schizophyllum Commune

Abstract

Sections of the gills are cut freehand, and basidiospores are allowed to develop on the sections in a moist chamber. The tetrads of spores are first detached and separated with the use of a microdissector and are finally isolated, after germination, under a dissecting microscope.
