Abstract
Presentation of CaseA 27-year-old man was admitted to the hospital because of circulatory collapse.He was well until 12 days earlier, when he became obstipated. Three days later abdominal pain developed, and on the next day he entered another hospital. The temperature was 38°C, and the blood pressure 135/85 mm Hg. The abdomen was diffusely tender and slightly distended. The urine was normal. The hematocrit was 48 per cent, and the white-cell count 18,500. A stool specimen gave a negative test for occult blood. The conjugated bilirubin was 0.7 mg, and the total bilirubin 2.2 mg per 100 ml. . . .
