Abstract
We obtain, from the exact microscopic, reversible, dynamics of an oscillator coupled to a heat bath, a classical, Markov stochastic process, for the energy of the oscillator. Also, the corresponding macroscopic phenomenological equation, describing an irreversible approach to equilibrium, is obtained. Keywords
