Abstract
Normal values for serum iron and unsaturated iron-binding capacity of serum were established in a carefully selected group of control subjects by a modification of the procedure described by Schade and coworkers. No significant difference was found between mean values in males and females, and there was no correlation between serum iron levels and age in adults. The value of serum iron as a diagnostic aid is limited by the wide range in normal subjects and the large variation that occurs in the same individual from hour to hour and day to day. Keywords
