CAT SCRATCH ENCEPHALITIS

Abstract
A case is reported of a boy who had temp. and coma lasting 48 hrs. due to cat scratch disease. This was preceded by a sterile abscess on the right arm of 7 wks. duration and axillary adenitis. The patient had close contact with several cats constantly. Two spinal fluid examinations proved sterile. Virus studies on blood and spinal fluid were negative. The patient and his mother reacted positively to two separate cat scratch disease antigens. Controls were negative. Eeg. record was consistent with cerebral dysrythmia. Treatment consisted of admn. of terramycin, penicillin and streptomycin. Recovery followed.Keywords
