Tricritical Slowing Down of Superfluid Dynamics inHe3-He4Mixtures

Abstract
Measurements of the Rayleigh scattering by concentration fluctuations in the coexisting superfluid in He3-He4 mixtures near the tricritical temperature Tt show a single Lorentzian line of width such that Γq2=Deff=1.5×104ε0.95±0.07 cm2 sec1 for 9×104<~1TTtε<~7×103. Thus the effective diffusion coefficient Deff is proportional to ε+1 and, since the concentration susceptibility (xΔ)PT is proportional to ε1, the effective kinetic coefficient LD,eff=Deff(Δx)PT is proportional to ε+1ε1ε0.
