Abstract
Thromboplastin has group specificity, therefore a comparative quantitative study of the prothrombin by the author''s method can only be made on animals within a group having similar prothrombin. For one of these groups, rabbit and dog plasma had the highest level of prothrombin. By setting this conc. at 100, the prothrombin content of the blood of Other members of the group was: cat and lion, 60; horse and deer, 40; man, 20; and cow 16. Reasons why these values express actual prothrombin content and not rate of prothrombin conversion to thrombin are presented.
