The Behaviour of DWBA Stripping Amplitudes near the Butler Pole

Abstract
Using integral representations of the bOtuld state wave functions it is shown that, near the socalled Butler pole, DWBA amplitudes of (d, p) and certain (d, n) reactions depend only on the asymptotic parts of these wave ftulctions. Furthermore, the zero-range approximation for the n-p interaction in the deuteron is exact at the pole. As well it is fotuld that for (d, n) stripping to loosely bound levels of heavy nuclei the Butler pole disappears in the sense that the amplitude is no longer infinite there.
