Abstract
Alkaline phosphatase, as demonstrated by the method of Gomori, appears in callouses around fractures in rat bones between the 3d and 4th day after the injury. With the formation of cartilage and bony tissue the phosphatase activity increases. In cells which show a strong positive phosphatase reaction (osteoblasts and chondriocytes) a large amt. of ribonucleic acid is also present.
