Abstract
Incubation of mouse-liver slices at 38[degree] in a suitable medium results in the development of additional catalase activity. This effect is not observed in homogenates under the same conditions or in slices incubated at 20[degree]. It is smaller under anaerobic conditions. Although males have a higher initial liver-catalase activity than females, the rise in enzyme activity during incubation of slices occurs to the same extent in both sexes. Tumor growth reduces the initial liver catalase activity much more than it reduces the increase of activity obtained on incubation. Incubation of liver slices in the presence of tumor homogenate had no effect either on the initial catalase activity or on the development of the additional activity. Keywords
