Abstract
Analyses of the clay fractions from the A and C horizons of the Rotomahana Sandy Loam soil revealed that rhyolitic volcanic glass has weathered to allophane in less than 90 years under the influence of an active organic cycle, whereas highly crystalline minerals showed little evidence of weathering and alteration during this period. The zeolite mordenite was identified in both clay fractions.
