Abstract
The influence of cyclosporin A (CyA) on human basophil histamine release induced in vitro by specific antigen, anti-IgE, Ca ionophore A23187, or concanavalin A was studied. CyA inhibited the release induced by these 4 stimulators. The drug probably acts directly on the target cell, since a similar effect was obtained with isolated peritoneal rat mast cells. The basophil histamine release was not changed by a non-immunosuppressive cyclosporin derivative. [The investigation included 9 healthy individuals and 8 asthmatic patients with symptoms of house dust mite allergy.].Keywords
