Abstract
An area of 12 square miles on Berghan Point, south head of Doubtless Bay, is composed in the main of a volcanic complex (Waimahana Volcanics) of dolerites and pillow lavas overlying a basement of Cretaceous strata and spilites. Calc-alkaline dikes (Wairakau Andesites) intrude the sequence on the west coast. The stratigraphy and petrography of the igneous rocks are discussed; 11 new chemical analyses are presented. Keywords
