Truncation of the Bechhofer-Kiefer-Sobel sequential procedure for selecting the normal population which has the largest mean (111): supplementary truncation numbers and resulting performance characteristics

Abstract

In this paper we provide a supplementary set of truncation numbers (n₀) for δ ^∗-values not studied in Bechhofer and Goldsman (1987). These are necessary to implement the truncated sequential selection procedure (p _{BT ). Performance characteristics are given for p BT used with the new n0-values. A by-product of this study was the discovery of a remarkable and completely unexpected pattern among the estimated n0-values. The practical implications of this finding are indicated.}
