Kilwa: A Preliminary Report

Abstract

This article describes the most important of the results of the excavations carried out by the Institute over the last few years at Kilwa Kisiwani, and at other sites on islands off the southern coast of Tanzania. It sets out in particular the archaeological evidence for the new chronology proposed and for the architectural development.
