Reactionπ+p→Σ+K+at 3.23GeVc

Abstract

The reaction ${\pi }^{+}p\to K^{+}{\Sigma }^{+}$ has been studied at 3.23 $\frac{\mathrm{GeV}}{c}$ in a hydrogen bubble chamber. The angular distribution is strikingly similar to that of the ${\pi }^{-}p\to {\pi }^{0}n$ reaction near this energy. A large polarization of the $\Sigma$ hyperon is also observed.
