AS CLINICIANS practicing medicine in the United States, we are apt to exclude from consideration as the cause of an obscure systemic fungous disease, the etiologic agent of South American blastomycosis. This disease peculiarly limits itself to the South American continent. Conant and co-authors, who have just recently published the second edition of their "Manual of Clinical Mycology,''1 reported only one case from elsewhere, this being from Costa Rica. For the past 17 months we have had under our care a patient with South American blastomycosis from the state of Oregon. We are reporting our experience with this patient, for whatever help it may be to those called upon to handle this problem in the future.
