Abstract
A quantitative analytical method has been developed for catechols in tobacco smoke using catechol-14C as internal standard. Main and sidestream smoke particulates are collected in cold traps, the acidic portion of the particulate matter is neutralized and the catechols are enriched by complexing with boric acid. The concentrate of the dihydroxybenzenes is analyzed by GLC/MS.Keywords
