Abstract
Pitts and McClure proposed a new theory of anxiety neurosis based on an experiment in which they induced anxiety symptoms by infusing into their subjects a solution of sodium (DL) lactate. They claimed that the symptoms were produced by an elevated blood lactate concentration.Keywords
