Abstract
Description of HALIPHTHOROS milfordensis, a marine fungus isolated from egg cases of Urosalpinx cinerea HALIPHTHOROS is made the type of the Haliphthoraceae (filamentous, holocarpic Saprolegniales) which includes ATKINSIELLA type, A. dubia (Plectospira d. Atkins), and Aphanomycopsis, Synchaetophagus balticus is a nomen dubium. H. milfordensis is euryhaline, growing well in synthetic-sea-water media containing glucose (or soluble starch or glycerol) and glutamate (or aspartate).
