Assay of Plasma Antihemophilic Activity in Normal, Heterozygous (Hemophilia) and Prothrombinopenic Dogs.

Abstract
A method is described for assaying the antihemophilic activity of plasma utilizing blood from hemophilic dogs or men as a test medium. The method allows expression of the results either in units or as percent of a normal control plasma. It was found that a steady state of this clotting factor appeared to exist in normal dogs of either sex and in females heterozygous for hemophilia; a normal level of this factor was present in the heterozygous females; no reduction occurred following acute liver damage by chloroform anesthesia, and a normal level was maintained during dicumarol admn.
