Aerial Photography and Statistical Analysis for Studying Behaviour Patterns of Grazing Animals

Abstract
Measurement of behavior indices and their statistical analysis is demonstrated and tested in the aerial study of sheep distribution in an arid part of Australia. The use of aerial photography and an electronic computer make the job possible and relatively cheap. The possibility of predicting the condition of a range from patterns of grazing behavior, and use of quantitative behavior indices in simulation programs of grazing strategies is suggested.
